Thank you for your interest in our products. The 1 kg / 5-7 l is a hood starting point. I would recommend using what looks good to you as far as an Aquascape goes that is close to that amount. Essentially one would want to use about the same as natural live rock.

The use of STAX as the sole aquascaping base material is mainly an aesthetic consideration. The kg/lt ratio you speak about is a general guide meant to illustrate the amount of rock that typically is used in a reef aquarium, and it is sometimes explained as a quantity required for biological filtration.

STAX is natural limestone rock, so it's usage is similar to live rock. It is slightly denser than live rock, so you may consider using slightly more weight to accomplish the same size structure.


For a 200lt tank we recommend a minimum of 9 kg to a maximum of 23 kg.
